Fun fact: Why is lettuce given to the lion during the dance?
It is tradition that a green vegetable like lettuce or bok choy is left hanging in the doorway of a business or home. After “eating” the green, the lion will spit it out, which may seem rude but actually represents the lion spreading wealth, prosperity and good luck.
